Both the English and Irish Cesarewitch take place over the weekend and, as always, they should prove to be two of the most competitive handicaps run at Newmarket and the Curragh this season.
Meath-based trainer Tony Martin looks to hold a very strong hand in both races with Quick Jack the favourite for tomorrow's English Cesarewitch and Thomas Edison (pictured) likely to be a short price for the Curragh on Sunday.
Quick Jack is a horse who looks like he could well still have plenty of improvement in him. A winner off 85 on the opening night of the Galway Festival, he will run off just 94 tomorrow and considering some of his previous form, and how impressive he was at Galway, he looks very well treated.
There's no doubt that 6/1 looks a short price for such a race but with any bit of luck in running at all he'll be in the frame.
On Sunday, there are some real progressive types in the big one at HQ but one that may not be finished winning is Peter Fahey's Alton Boy, who was second behind Rebel Fitz last time, and at the very bottom Massini's Trap may run well.
