Barry tees up Cuala U13 title from Brussels!
THE Cuala U13s have got their wings. They won the Division 3 League this season.
On their management crew was Olga Barry, who had to travel more miles than most to be at the games.
Olga works in Brussels. But that didn't present a problem. She flew home every weekend. Her colleagues on the ground included Fiona Ross, Linda Farren, Jo Golden and the former Dublin captain and Croke Park's camogie CEO, Sheila Wallace.
Olga also coaches a camogie team in Brussels.
The 13s will be in Féile next season. Among them is Ciara McKeown, the Dublin U13 Player-of-the-Year.
They were presented with their medals on a glittering Dalkey occasion that saw the All-Ireland champions come to the village.
Mags D'Arcy and Deirdre Codd of the Wexford team made the trip, and they were joined by manager, JJ Doyle and Wexford PRO, Barbara Ryan.
More than 350 people packed into the Cuala hall to salute the camogie and football deeds of the Cuala Cubs. The Cuala back-stage crew had put in big work and it turned into a show-stopping evening.
Barbara O'Reilly was the genial host, and Cuala Club Person of the Year, Donal Murphy, conducted an entertaining Question and Answer session -- 150 players, aged from U8 to U16, were in the building, as was the captain of the Jackies, All-Star, Denise Masterson. The O'Duffy and Brendan Martin Cups were also on display.
And Cuala say that new players for the U13s, or indeed any of the other teams, are most welcome. Log onto www.cualagaa.ie.
