Barróg unable to pick off Isles

Playing with a strong breeze in the first half, the Finglas boys built up a significant lead as they went in 0-9 to 0-1 up at the break. Their midfield of Neil Matthews and Jack Grafton was outstanding, while full-forward Nicholas King chipped in with some fine scores.

The Barróg men rallied in the second period, but, despite the best efforts of the likes of Eric Kennedy, Luke Fitzgerald and Killian Byrne, they couldn't force their way back on terms. Tadhg Browne was outstanding for the winners at centre-back.

In Division Four, it was a battle of the Round Towers, Clondalkin and Lusk, with the former emerging at the right end of a titanic struggle at Moyle Park, 4-8 to 3-8.

Leading by one at the interval, thanks largely to goals from Killian Byrne and Eoin Murphy, Clondalkin found themselves under immense pressure as the Lusk men battled back.

DAMAGE

Donal Clarke, Kyle Connell and Cian Hanlon were excellent for the visitors, providing the platform for the likes of Darragh Kelly, Luke White and Dylan Cody-Foy to do the damage up front.

But with Michael O'Reilly in fine form in defence, Clondalkin just about kept their opponents at bay and further goals from Conor Flannery – who also made a brilliant saving catch at the death – and Robert Butler were enough to secure the honours.

Elsewhere, a well-struck penalty in the closing stages by Jack Moore helped St Jude's B to the Division Eight crown after a fantastic clash with Erin Go Bragh.

Moore showed nerves of steel to dispatch his kick after the impressive David O'Callaghan was pulled down when through on goal.

Wing-forward Cian Lyndsey was also in devastating form.

Erin Go Bragh were worthy opponents, however, and in the likes of Conor Cusack Cian Uzell, Rubin Kavanagh and Cathal Burke, they had a very potent attack. At the back, Cormac Madigan and Peter Ennis battled bravely to the death.
