Barratts shoes in administration
Over 1,000 jobs are at risk as Barratts Shoes, which operates in Ireland and the UK, has gone into administration for the third time in four years.
An investor pulled out of a plan to inject £5m (€5.9m) at the last minute leaving directors at the Bradford-based chain with no choice but to apply for administration in an attempt to shore up finances.
The company has 15 shops nationwide in Ireland, including several in Dublin, Cork, Newbridge, Athlone, Letterkenny, Killkenny and Carlow.
A total of 75 people are employed in its Irish shops and the company also has 14 shops in Northern Ireland.
