Anglo seeks costs from Quinn clan

ANGLO Irish Bank wants the wife and children of businessman Sean Quinn to provide security for the costs of potential "mammoth" discovery of bank documents.

These documents are being sought in the family's action arguing they have no liability for repayment of €2.3 billion loans made to various Quinn companies.

The unusual security for costs application by the bank will be heard by Mr Justice Peter Kelly at the Commercial Court later this month along with other motions related to the action by Mrs Quinn and her five children arising from the family losing control of companies within the group.

The judge on November 30th will deal first with the bank's motion for the court to decide preliminary matters in that action. After which he will decide whether or not to grant the security for costs application before ruling on applications by the Quinns and the bank on what documents should be discovered.

Brian Murray, for Anglo said he would be asking the court to agree preliminary issues and to order Mrs Quinn to provide security for the costs.
