Allardyce: I'm not afraid to fall out with club bosses

Sam Allardyce is prepared to fall out with Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho or any other manager when it comes to getting the players he wants for his England team.

Allardyce - who took over from Roy Hodgson this summer - named his first England squad yesterday evening, and included United left-back Luke Shaw, who is back in form after missing almost all of last season through injury.

Allardyce also named uncapped West Ham midfielder Michail Antonio, but there is no place for Everton's Ross Barkley.

Barkley, who was an unused squad member at Euro 2016, has been dropped despite scoring twice in his first four matches this season.

In all there are five changes from the squad that failed in France this summer, with Shaw, Phil Jagielka, Danny Drinkwater and Theo Walcott all returning.

The retired James Milner drops out along with Marcus Rashford, who has been named in the Under-21s, and injured pair Jack Wilshere and Ryan Bertrand.

Mourinho might have been keen to let Shaw rest, but Allardyce is not concerned.

"I will speak to Jose," he said in several national newspapers. "We've got on well together, but when you're having a conversation with an international manager, we all know the difficulties of the past. So, I'm not saying we won't have a fall-out now and again because we're both passionate about what we do."
