Airport taxis shake-up

DUBLIN Airport Authority has introduced a new electronic system to read taxi registration plates to streamline the flow at taxi ranks.

Easytrip, the provider of electronic tolling services, has been selected by the DAA to implement the system at the airport.

Taxi drivers who have authority to operate at Dublin Airport will be supplied with a new tag for use at the airport and when they enter the holding area, the tags will register their presence.

Taxi journeys are tracked through the airport campus, allowing the software to manage various "replenishment scenarios", Easytrip explained.
