A warrant has been issued for the arrest of an actor after he failed to appear at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court for an arraignment hearing.

Marcus Valentine (43), previously of Windmill Lane Apartments, Windmill Lane, Dublin, but currently working in America, faces charges of assaulting Zicheng Yu and criminal damage at Pearse Street on September 11, 2009.

He was due before Judge Tony Hunt yesterday. A warrant was issued for Valentine's arrest.

Lohan seeks starring roles

Lindsay Lohan says she wants to be identified with great films in the future, not the personal problems that have stalled her career in recent years.

"I don't want that to be what I'm known for anymore, the tabloid stuff," she said on magazine show Extra.

The troubled starlet acknowledged that her comeback won't be easy.

In the latest of her off-screen woes, Lohan is charged with the theft of a necklace from an upmarket jewellry store. She has pleaded not guilty.

Ban lifted on hotel pickets

THE High Court has lifted injunctions over pickets at two Dublin hotels in a dispute over the new minimum wage.

It followed agreement between the hotel owners and the trade union Siptu.

Pickets were placed by Siptu outside the Davenport and Mont Clare Hotels following the dispute involving five workers who refused to sign new contracts reducing their pay from €8.65 per hour to €7.65 -- the new minimum wage rate.

The parties are to go before the Labour Relations Commission this week.
