A labour of love puts Sabor at top of TripAdvisor's best food

Sabor Brazil in Dublin

A labour of love for Irishman Tom Neary and Brazilian Marco DePaulo has put their restaurant as the country's top listed eatery with online tourist guide, TripAdvisor.

The pair set up Sabor Brazil on Pleasant Street, just off Camden Street six years ago to bring something of Brazil to Ireland. They say the restaurant is not just about food.

Bookings are restricted to tables for two to ensure patrons have a "relaxed, romantic evening and feel pampered", said Tom.

"We are very humbled by the award to be honest with you," he told the Herald.

"We were very, very surprised because there are a lot of good restaurants in Dublin and in Ireland."

The popular restaurant, with a three-month waiting list, has a single, muti-course tasting menu with a wide variety of different Brazilian foods.

While the pair have no plans to expand the restaurant, which caters for up to 26 people, a year ago they opened a Brazilian gift shop nearby and they would like to expand this to make their own scented candles.

"Our dream would be to have everything on the one site where all of a person's senses could be pampered," he said.

Other restaurants in the TripAdvisor top 10 include Café Paradiso, Cork; Campagne, Kilkenny; Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud, Dublin; Chapter One, Dublin; and The Lime Tree in Kenmare.
