A REFUND of €65 is being offered to members of the public on the cost of a dental check-up.

Toothpaste manufacturers Colgate has said it will pay for its customers to visit a dentist in a bid to promote oral health.

The offer is being made as part of the company's Oral Health Month 2010, organised in conjunction with the Irish Dental Association (IDA).

To promote healthy teeth and gums, people are advised to brush twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste, replace their toothbrush every three months, avoid sugary snacks between meals and visit the dentist regularly.

Peter Hatton, of Colgate- Palmolive Ireland, said: "Maintaining a good oral health care regime, by brushing regularly and attending your family dentist on a routine basis, can help achieve a healthier lifestyle overall."

During September the oral health month road show will tour the country offering the public the chance to talk to advisers, who will demonstrate good brushing techniques.
