Two massive drugs seizures together worth €4m were the result of garda investigations into two different crime gangs.

The heroin and cocaine were discovered last night during separate searches in the Clondalkin and Ballyfermot areas by the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (DOCB)

Two men were arrested and are being held in west Dublin garda stations. They are both Dubliners and have addresses in Swords and Clondalkin.

The Swords man was arrested in Ballyfermot while the Clondalkin man was detained near his home.

One of the targeted gangs is led by eastern European criminals, while the other is a Clondalkin-based outfit who are the chief suspects for three gun murders as part of a feud that has calmed in recent months.

While the Clondalkin gang is one of the best-known in the country, the Eastern European mob has been operating under the radar".
