The annual Tara Bishop memorial fun run in Ballymurn is fast becoming known as the 'friendly 5k'.
The event, which was previously known as the Ballymurn Fun Run, took place recently for the second time and it was a great success, raising €4,332 for Temple Street Children's Hospital and Ballymurn National School.
The organisers were delighted with the turnout, and what makes the event very significant is that all of the money raised goes towards the two beneficiaries.
That's only possible through the support of the local community, including the local businesses and individuals who sponsor the event.
One of the organisers, Bobby Redmond, said everyone involved with the committee is very appreciative of how much support the event gets. This year, 402 people participated - from young toddlers in pushchairs to older residents.
Two star additions this year were Wexford county GAA stars Paudie Foley and Paul Morris, who were delighted to be involved.
'It's a fun run that everyone regards as the friendly 5k,' said Mr Redmond.
The event involves 'Team Temple Street' and Team School', with everyone in the village taking part.
'It's a great community spirited event, and a lot of fun for participants,' he said.
