Cousins chosen on Leinster selection

CONGRATULATIONS TO Edward Cousins of Taghmon who has been selected to play on the Leinster Senior team travelling to Milton Keynes to play in the English inter-county championships. Edward is recovering from injury which kept him out of the charity tournament.

Mixed League results - Division 3, Group B: New Ross 5, Shelburne 'D' 5; Shelburne 'A' 6, Taghmon 3; Division 5: St. Martin's A 6, Shelburne 4; Division 6, Group B: Terrerath 5, Gorey 5; New Ross 4, Davidstown 6.

In the Division 3 Group B Mixed League, Shelburne 'A' hosted Taghmon on Tuesday last. In the men's doubles, Paudie Foran and Tony Sinnott were defeated by John Walsh and Noel Dunne 10-21, 13-21. In the ladies' doubles, Ailish O'Hanlon and Jenny Winter defeated Marie Kelly and Ciara Dunne 21-10, 21-10.

In the first mixed doubles, Paudie Foran and Ailish O'Hanlon defeated John Walsh and Ciara Dunne 21-19, 21-12.

The second mixed doubles was an exciting three-setter Tony Sinnott and Jenny Winter had a battle on their hands against Noel Dunne and Marie Kelly. Dunne and Kelly won the first set 2119, Sinnott and Winter won the second set 2112, and the third set was a humdinger with both pairings giving it their all.

Shelburne's Sinnott and Winter narrowly won it 22-20. Shelburne emerged winners on a scoreline of 6-3.

Huge congratulations to Noel Dunne (Taghmon) who played on the Leinster Under-16 team in York recently. Noel and his partner, Donal O'Leary, had a very successful tournament, coming fifth in the boys' doubles.


December 31: closing date for registration for Leinster competitions.

January 4: closing date for ladies' and gents' doubles league; closing date for entries for Juvenile blitz tournament.

January 12 and 13: mixed league finals; Juvenile 'B' tournament (2).

January 20: Shield competition.
