ATHLETIC CLUB: Cross Country season is well and truly in full swing and the Adamstown athletes are making it to the top.
Last Sunday athletes turned out in force at the Even Age Cross Country Championships.
U8 Girls got the day off to a start with our own super star Abigail Crean sprinting down the home straight to collect her 1st medal for cross country running. U8 Boys undertook a 300m dash in their stride with Adamstown being lead home by Ross English 4th, Jack O Shea 5thand Watt Creane 9th showing all the signs of a strong team for the future.
Adamstowns U10 Girls 1000m showed their competitiveness with Niamh English excelling to finish 4th, Isobel English 7th Grainne English 10th Ciara Mooney17th Saoibh Crean 19th Clodagh Creane 35th and Roisin Colfer 36th, U10 Boys 1000m were lead home by Daniel O'Gorman 19th and Donny McDonald 22nd.
U12 Girls 2000m Aoibhinn Crean pick up her first individual cross country medal finishing a strong 10th, followed by Katie English 21st and Ella English 28th. U12 Boys 2000m saw the boys pack together to take 3rd Robert Wall, 4th Ben Wall, 7th Eamonn O'Shea, the boys were 2nd team home, collecting silver medals.
U14 Girls 3000m Adamstown girls sprinted home to take 3rd Mairead Crean, 4th Kate Jackman, Rachel Power 18th, Sonia Mooney 21st. The girls took 1st place in the team scorings. U14 Boys 3000m Luke Byrne ran a decisive race to take the county title, Craig Wall 13th and Oisin McGabhann 22nd were strong enough to take the silver medals in the team scoring.
U16 Girls Annalise Creane dominated the race, to stride home county champion, followed by Triona Mooney 4th Clodagh Walsh 10th, U18 Boys 6000m Joe Mooney finished up the running of the day finishing a strong 4th. Well done to all competing.
Sunday 12th October will be day 2 of the county championships. Well done to Joe Mooney, Ryan Carthy Walsh and Clodagh Walsh who have been selected as part of the Leinster performance squad.
On Sunday 9th November, the athletic club will be hosting the Leinster Cross Country championships in Rothwells field, if you would like to help the club out with parking, stewarding or catering please contact Marie Louise Byrne or any committee member, your help will be gratefully appreciated.
Please Note Mass time will be celebrated on Sunday 9thNovember at 9.30am and not the usual time of 10.30. Athletic club would like to invite all past and present members to Saturday evening mass 8th November when members of the club will be taking an active part in the mass.
The weekly '30' Card game continues in the Community Centre this 17th October at 9pm. Thanks to the ladies for the teas last week. Catering on the 17th will be Breda Whelan, Deirdre Whelan, Marie Murphy & Bessie Fortune. Proceeds going to Parish Funds.
Parents Association AGM
The Annual General Meeting of the Adamstown Primary School Parents Association takes place this Tuesday 14th October at 7.30pm. The Parents Association are actively involved in the school activities and work on behalf of all children in the school to help and support parents and teachers for the benefit of all children. All parents welcome.
Winning numbers 4,18,22 and 30. There was no Jackpot winner with three match 3 winners Dessie Doyle, Larry Flood and Bridget Ffrench. The next jackpot is €12,400 and the draw will take place in Cullens Pub on 20th October.
A Date for Your Diaries
Kildare native "Michael English" brings his brand new country music dance band back to Co. Wexford as he takes to the stage in Adamstown Ballroom on Saturday 29th November. This is St Abban's Adamstown GAA main fundraiser of the year.

Come along to the Spellman Hall Kildavin on November 1st at 8pm, for the launch of the Clonegal/Kildavin Veteran Players second publication "A Backward Glance" All the material in this publication reflects the lived experiences of a brave group of people who shared their stories, their wit and their wisdom. Admission to the launch is free, all are welcome.
Deepest sympathy is extended to the family of Phylis Curran (nee Maher) Crann, Clonegal, Co Wexford who sadly passed away on the 29th of September. Phylis remains reposed at Kearney's Funeral Home and removal took place on the 30th of September to Newtown Church. Burial followed on the 1st October after 11 o clock mass concelebrated by Fr. Foley Bagenalstown, Fr. Fleming and Fr. O' Byrne Clonegal. Phylis will be sadly missed by her husband Jimmy, sons Raymond, Seamus and John, Daughter Margaret, Daughters in-law Suzanne, Tina and Richenda, grandchildren Ryan, Shauna, Dara, Odhran, Samantha and Nicole, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.
Song and Story
The House of Song and Story will take place on Monday 20th October, in St. Brigid's Hall, Clonegal at 8.00pm. All are most welcome.
The Kildavin/Clonegal GAA lotto was held in Conway's Lounge, Kildavin, on Sunday 5th October. Numbers drawn were 3, 11, 20 and 26. There was no winner of the jackpot of €8,400. Winners that matched three were N.P.L Conway, Kildavin, Paul c/o Chriss Coleman, Trish Canavan, Ballon, Billy Nolan c/o Dunne's, Cian Dunne, Clonegal, Ronan Roberts, Orchard and Grainne Byrne, Barragh, all receiving €25 each. Tea and coffee evening fundraiser will be held in St. Brigit's Community Hall, Clonegal on Saturday evening 25th October from 5.30pm - late, in Aid of the Carlow/Kilkenny Homecare Team. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

An open night will take place in Castledockrell National School on Tuesday, 21st October from 7-9p.m. All parishioners are welcome to attend particularly those with young children to see the facilities in the school.
A meeting to setup Text Alert will be held in Marshalstown Community Centre on Tuesday, 28th October at 8p.m. for Marshalstown and Castledockrell areas. Meeting is open to everybody.

The school has received €76.50 from Recycling 2000 for the newspapers recycled between January and June 2014. Along with this they have also made a donation to St. Vincent de Paul. Thanks to everyone who recycles newspapers in the bins at J.K.M. Hall.

Rathnure Playgroup have a number of places available for the free preschool year for children born between 2nd February, 2010 - 30th June, 2011 for this current year to June, 2015. We are also running an afternoon group for children aged between 2 yrs 9 months - 3yrs 6 months for 2 hours daily - 1.15pm to 3.15pm. Other options available. GAA Club Lotto

Margo Murphy Academy
British Championships: Margo and her troop of dancers travelled to England last weekend to compete in C.R.D.M. British Championships and did extremely well. Congratulations to Kevin O'Reilly on winning the U8 British Championships and also Tara Murphy and Emily Farrell from Rathnure got 5th in the U8 Championships.
Cora Banville from Camross who came 2nd in the U10 Championships and to Chrissy Whitty from Raheen U16 came in her Intermediate Championship. All dancers are members of the Margo Murphy Academy of Dance.
As a class we are very proud of their achievements which was a very high standards Feis. Also between the dancers they won 23 medals and 5 medals and sashes.
