There was a hive of activity in the Loch Garman Arms Hotel on Monday night for the annual 'Summer Sesiúin' hosted by Gorey Ballygarrett CCÉ branch.

The event, which is now in its third year, takes place every Monday evening for the month of July and August.

Committee member Margaret Cushe said the first six weeks has been a great success in Gorey, with many guests taking part in the musical entertainment.

'The first half of the Sesiúin is for group performances from students in Gorey Ballygarrett Comhaltas,' said Margaret. 'The second half of the night is open to anyone.'

The guests can perform a tune, sing a song, recite a poem or do a dance.

Entry is €5 for adults, while children go free.

'The money go towards Gorey Ballygarrett CCÉ,' added Margaret. They will use the money for the day-to-day running of the group, which includes buying new instruments to lease out to their students.

Last year, the CCÉ group took the children on a trip to the south of Wexford as a thank you for their hard-work throughout the year.

During the Sesiúin, the bar to the Loch Garman is opened for people to have a refreshment while they sit back and relax listening to Irish music by the talented musicians.

Sesiúin will take place every Monday night at 8 p.m., until 10.30 p.m., in the Loch Garman Arms. Admission is €5 and children go free. All are welcome to attend.
