Seeing things in black and white

Maria Pepper

A new solo exhibition by the artist Olivia O'Dwyer will open at the Creative Hub studios in the Cornmarket Mall, Wexford on Friday, July 6, at 7pm.

The show titled 'Recurrence' will be officially launched by the independent curator Eamonn Maxwell.

'Recurrence' is a new body of work focusing on rhythm, pattern and repetition of compositional motifs in painting.

The pieces are predominantly monochromatic in nature, with the paintings having come into being through a process of addition and erasure until a balance is achieved. Subtle touches of colour find their way into the painting, but the primary objective is to allow the painting to develop through a process of accident and discovery. Olivia studied at Limerick School of Art and Design and has exhibited widely in group and solo exhibitions.
