Saoirse skips the IFTAs after a busy Enniscorthy week
Contrary to a suggestion broadcast on national television, film star Saoirse Ronan was not at the Anar Kali restaurant in Enniscorthy on Saturday.
The County Carlow actress, still a few days short of her 20th birthday, gave the IFTA awards that night a miss after her busy week on set on Slaneyside.
Accepting the best actress award for her role in 'Byzantium' on her behalf, the star's father Paul Ronan joked that his absent daughter was enjoying an Indian in Enniscorthy.
At the town's only Indian restaurant, Anar Kali, house manager Tariq was sad to report this week there was no substance to the throwaway remark.
'She is most welcome but she was not here on Saturday,' he said, though maybe she ordered takeaway.
Tariq was delighted to feed members of the 'Brooklyn' production crew during the week they were in town but he was not aware that any of the actors called to the Rafter Street eatery.
Much speculation has surrounded the whereabouts of Saoirse Ronan during the Irish leg of her latest movie shoot.
Rumour has it that she may be holed up at the family home at Ardattin near Tullow.
Alternatively, it is suggested that she has found bed and board in the five-star luxury of Monart Spa, a couple of miles outside Enniscorthy.
It is also believed by some that she has been ferried by taxi each night to a hotel in Wexford town.
