Gorey Library rounded off a busy year with its annual concert featuring Gorey Choral Group, and readings by members of Gorey Writers Group.

Around 120 people enjoyed a top class performance of festive numbers from the choral group under the musical direction of Eithne Corrigan. Bernie Walsh of Gorey Writers' Group read a humorous festive story written by a much loved member of the group Liam Ryan who sadly passed away recently.

Librarian Nicola McGrath said it was a lovely community event which was followed by tea, coffee, and refreshments. 'It's an established tradition here in Gorey Library and people look forward to it every year.'

It's a busy year ahead for Gorey Library. A recent grant of funding will see the upgrading of the self service facility. The unused reception desk at the front of the library will be replaced with hot desks and collaborative meeting spaces which will be run with local partner support.

The Healthy Ireland initiative will be embraced and talks on a wide range of topics are planned during the year.
