Local musician to launch new CD in Loch Garman Arms
North Wexford's best known traditional musician Tomás Keegan will launch his new CD just before Christmas.
Titled 'Trip the Hills to Gorey', the fiddle player will have a launch night on Saturday, December 8, at 9 p.m., in the Loch Garman Arms. The album contains a wide range of traditional dance tunes with a strong county Wexford bias as well as a number of his trade mark slow airs.
On the night, Tomás will be accompanied by pianist Mandy O'Callaghan, Catriona O'Brien on fiddle and accordion, Pat Bass on Banjo, Patrick Kavanagh on fiddle and guitarist Brian McMahon. A great night of music is expected.
The CD will be launched by fellow Gorey musician Sean Lacey, whose musical involvement with Tomás goes back to their primary school days together in Gorey CBS in the early 1960s.
Tomás has been involved in every aspect of traditional music in the county and beyond for many years. He has also taught fiddle to a number of very accomplished musicians, a number of whom have published albums long before him.
This launch, therefore, is long overdue but as the saying goes 'better late than never'.
