Kilrush to tread the boards with classic play
All roads lead to Carnew this weekend for the amateur premier of Hedda Gabler by Kilrush Drama.
The show will take place in St Brigid's Hall, Carnew on Friday night and again on Sunday night.
Directed by Mick Byrne the group is looking forward to performing the new version of Ibsen's classic drama 'Hedda Gabler' written by Mark O'Rowe, which premiered at the Abbey Theatre last year.
The title role Hedda will be played by Ellie Willoughby while Bertha will be played by Jane Kinsella. Anne Sheridan will return to the stage in the role of the Aunt Julie while Gary Stephens and Maire Doran will play the roles of Eilert Lovborg and Thea.
Timothy Connaughton will play George Thesman and the role of Judge Brack is being played by Joe Sinnott.
Back stage crew are also busy now with preparations with Lar Duffy and crew have built the extravagant set and Jacinta Kavanagh has organised the elaborate costumes. Makeup artists, Lorna Doran and Maire Doran will do the makeup and sound and lighting technicians, Paddy Byrne and Kevin McEvoy will add their technical expertise to the production and Tommy Kavanagh is ready to take over as stage manager.
