AS GOREY Musical Society celebrates its 50th birthday, the members have pulled out all the stops to ensure that this year's show, the popular 'Evita' will bring the house down.

The Andrew Lloyd Webber hit show will run at Gorey Little Theatre from Monday, April 7, to Saturday, April 12. 'Don't Cry for me Argentina', 'Another Suitcase in another Hall', 'Santa Evita' and other much loved songs will be brought to life by a cast of 50, including the show principals Ciara Herron, Gary Stephens, Malcolm Byrne, Clodagh Leacy, and Dermot Wildes.

They have been hard at work for the past few months under the direction of Imelda McDonagh, choreographer Frances Ryan, and Musical Director Lar Duffy.

Musical Society Chairperson Mary Spellman thanked everyone in the local area who has supported the Society so generously over the past 50 years. A special thank you was sent to the Society's Associate Members, the Patrons, and sponsors, upon whom the Society relies, and without whom no show could be staged.

'Every year they come through for us,' she said. She also acknowledged everyone taking part in the show this year, many of whom are new to the Society.

'This is one of the biggest cast productions for some years,' she continued. 'We hope that many of the new people will be bitten by the bug and come back to us in years to come.'

Tickets for the show go on sale from Tuesday, April 1, in the Theatre or by phoning 053 9421474. Opening night tickets on Monday, April 7, are €12, and from Tuesday, April 8, to Saturday, April 12, tickets are €15.
