The inaugural meeting of Down to Earth Gorey was a great success recently.

Organiser Ann Walsh said the evening had been 'a wonderful meeting of minds'.

The meeting took place in the Cosy Cottage Cafe which proved an ideal backdrop. Guest speaker Grace O'Driscoll Sinnott spoke eloquently of her work connecting children to nature, which linked in with those who were passionate about producing and consuming locally grown produce.

Other discussions centred around the importance of recognising how much waste we produce and how we can reuse so much,; the challenges and opportunities of living with technology and the importance of supporting each other in any ideas people would like see come to fruition.

This was all complimented by the beautiful poetry of Norah Clifford Kelly, wonderful book recommendations and lots of ideas for how people can help and support each other in looking after the planet and its people.

Ann said the 'wonderful evening was only made possible by the generosity of Timea from the Cosy Cottage'.

She said she had been very pleased with how the first meeting of the group went and said the turnout had been quite good.

Down to Earth Gorey will meet again on Thursday, November 9 and the second Thursday of every month at the Cosy Cottage and is open to all.
