Director to host film workshop in New Ross
The County Wexford Youth Film Project are to hosting a special three-day workshop facilitated by Laura Way who shot to fame when an Eastenders episode she made was nominated for a Bafta award.
The scriptwriting workshop is free to teenagers from County Wexford and it begins on Tuesday, June, 10, at St Michael's Theatre and continues through to Thursday, June 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
Laura is a native of Wexford town and is the owner of Wexford-based production company Bodecii Film. She also runs the Gaiety School Of Acting Graduate Screen Actors Programme devising, writing and directing the graduate Showcase since 2017. An episode of 'Eastenders' entitled 'Consent', directed by Laura, has been nominated for both a BAFTA and Best Single Episode Award at the British Soap Awards. Therese Dalton of County Wexford Youth Film Project said: 'This is a fantastic opportunity for young filmmakers and we are delighted to have Laura back to facilitate this workshop. We really appreciate her taking the time to visit us considering her extremely busy schedule. Last year participants created an excellent script "Howdyville" which brought them to the final of The Fresh Film Festival.'
Participants of this Wexford Co Council and St Michael's Theatre funded project will learn how to write and develop a script. Anybody interested in writing is strongly encouraged to apply.
