Primary pupils from across the district travelled to Coláiste An Átha, Kilmuckridge to see what the second level school has to offer young people in the locality.

Parents and young people first gathered to hear a speech from principal Elizabeth Martin, and she explained that it was fantastic to see so many familiar faces.

'What made things special was that everyone participated from staff to students and the parents association. It's great to see when things really come full circle as every year more and more students come back with their own children to consider their old school for them,' she said.

Elizabeth explained that the whole school was open and that everything was looking very well and so a lovely atmosphere was created.

'Parents and young people got to see the students in action and got a taste of the student experience. The home economics room was open as well as metal and woodwork rooms, where visitors could make things. We also had some science experiments on the night, it was just really positive,' she said.

Applications are still being sought and the final deadline is November 21.
