Gorey Choral Group finished the year on a high note with a sold out performance at the Ashdown Park Hotel.

The choir's annual concert is its main fundraiser of the year, and the members were delighted with such a huge turnout as the funds generated help keep the choir going during the year. Last year's funds were used to purchase a new piano for the group.

Musical director Eithne Corrigan prepared a mix of traditional festive favourites, as well as some winning competition pieces. Special guests on the evening were the Silvertones, while Hilda Browne gave a solo performance on the harp.

Chairperson Clíona Woodbyrne said that the group has a busy year ahead. It will take part in choral festivals in Cork and Arklow, and will also perform in Coolattin House.

Thanks were sent to all who attended the concert, and also to the Ashdown, as well as sponsors Tesco, and Wades Totalhealth Pharmacy, and those that donated prizes

New members are most welcome, especially men. Auditions will be held in January. Contact Clíona on 087 2709939 to book.
