All are invited to the book launch of In Two Minds, a collection of short stories and writings by local ladies Althea Farren and Lorraine Cullen that see the minds of the friends merge into one.

The launch will take place on Saturday, August 17 at 6.30 p.m. at Zozimus Bookshop in the Book Café, Gorey.

'We write of beginnings and endings, entrances and departures, dilemmas and delights. Like the Roman god, Janus, In Two Minds looks back at past events and forward to the future, acknowledging that on life's journey, we all have the same goal. That is the achievement of wisdom, acceptance, courage and peace,' said the co-authors.

Althea and Lorraine combine their individual experiences and knowledge in the book, which is a mix of fiction and non fiction.

Set in Ireland, Zimbabwe and India, the stories and writings offer vivid insights into the mystery that is the human condition.

The authors draw inspiration from their past to provide these insights.

Althea grew up on a remote ranch in Rhodesia, later to become Zimbabwe and emigrated to Ireland in 2007.

In 2001 Althea co-authored Voices of Zimbabwe, which was followed by It's a Little Inconvenient: Memories of a Bulawayo Book Club (2012) and Learning to Love Ireland: An Immigrant's Tale (2014).

Lorraine Cullen grew up in Ireland and lived for some time in New York, England and Australia before eventually finding herself in India. 'I climbed mountains, sung with a gospel choir and sailed around Ireland. Writing is my latest adventure,' she said.

Lorraine lives in county Wicklow, works part-time in accounts and has a busy homeopathy practice and this is her first book of published stories.
