As the auditions have now come to a close, the aspiring actors to take part in the Gorey Oscarz for St Aidan's will find out which movies they will be starring in on the big screen this Thursday, June 13 at the launch night at St Aidan's day care centre at Millands, Gorey.

Starting at 8 p.m., supporters will get the chance to meet the actors and find out which mini-movies will be professionally shot in the local area later this year.

Auditions were held last Thursday night, and the directors will reveal who will be starring in seven ten minute extracts from famous films which will be given a local twist.

Actors will have some time to prepare as rehearsals begin in September, and filming takes place in October.

The results of their work will be screened at a gala night in the Amber Springs Hotel on Saturday, November 16, after which Oscarz will be presented for best film.

'The event is being organised to raise badly needed funds for St Aidan's which provides invaluable services for to 300 people in the local community. It is hoped to raise enough money to go towards upgrading the transportation fleet of accessible vehicles, and to help upgrade the St Aidan's building in Camolin,' said a spokesperson for the event.

The main sponsor for the event is Altura Credit Union, and local businesses have come on board with sponsorship.

All are welcome to attend the launch and find out more about the fundraising event, before tickets go on sale for the gala screening night later this year.
