St Edan's Cathedral, Ferns is holding a Vintage Day and Model Exhibition on Sunday, June 13, from 12 noon to 5 p.m.

The event will be held at the parish hall and field on the Clone Road, Ferns.

The event will kick off with a vintage miniature steam engine rally leaving from the front of St Edan's Cathedral at 12 noon and proceeding to the parish hall.

The event will follow on from the very successful vintage day and model exhibitions held over the last two years.

It will feature vintage tractors and cars, various pieces of machinery, and implements from times past mainly displayed in the field behind the parish hall.

The event is held in aid of the Cathedral restoration fund and the parish hall refurbishment fund.

The model exhibition will be held in the hall and will feature a wide range of models and displays.

Teas and refreshments will also be available and there will also be a bottle stall and bric-a-brac.

'We are reliably informed that some vintage surprises may make their way to the field this year but even the organisers haven't been told what is on its way,' said a spokesperson for the organising committee.

Last year Winston Churchill's old Rolls Royce was among the vehicles present so expectations are high for an equally impressive surprise this year.

Everyone in the community is being encouraged to go along on the day and give their support to the event.
