Upgrade work on fire tower
The landmark training tower at the back of Gorey Fire Station has recently disappeared from view, as it has been surrounded by a blanket of scaffolding.
When asked for details on why the work is being carried out, Wexford County Council said that as part of its maintenance programme, the Fire Services Department is carrying out some minor remedial works to the training tower.
The works will include rust treatment, sill replacement and tightening holding down bolts. It is expected to take a number weeks to complete the project. The tower is used by the fire fighters for training purposes.
