Sadness at death of Nyall at tennis court

Sara Gahan

These was widespread sadness following the news that local man Nyall Storey (78) passed away suddenly on Sunday evening at Gorey Tennis Club. Nyall, a longterm member of the club, had been playing a doubles match with his son Stephen.

Nyall suffered a heart attack on the court shortly after 6 p.m.

Nyall, who lived on the Hollyfort road outside of Gorey town, will be sadly missed by those who knew him.

Gorey Tennis Club members are devastated and in shock as Nyall was a regular fixture on Saturday afternoons on the courts. He played tennis for most of his life and enjoyed every minute of it. After a busy Saturday playing tennis, Nyall often called in to Partridges Café for a coffee and everyone knew him there.

Nyall is described by the club as a loveable character who had a kind word for everyone.
