Proud as punch in Carnew

THE FOCUS was on flowers when the volunteers with the Pride in Carnew committee held a special event in conjunction with An Taisce's National Spring Clean Week.

Flowers were planted at the entrance to the back alley on Main Street, while a clean up of the general area was also organised.

The entrance to the back alley is an area that the local TÚS workers have been reclaiming over the past few weeks. An enthusiastic gang of parents and children turned up with their gardening tools and bedding plants and made a great job of enhancing the entrance to the Back Alley.

'We were blessed with good weather and generous donations of bedding plants and the Pride in Carnew committee would like to thank everyone who made this morning fun and productive,' said a spokesperson for the committee. They sent a big thank you to all those people who contribute to their weekly Lotto – this money will help them enormously to complete projects planned for the coming year.

The committee members are: Chairperson, Kieran Tyrrell; Vice-Chairperson, Marion O'Toole; Treasurer, Mary Hall; Co-Signees, Lisa Harris and Una Butler; Secretaries, May Brennan-Kavanagh and Mary Hall.
