Gorey Hockey Club have raised an incredible €5,200 for their Pitch Fund through a monster raffle.

The draw took place on Friday and Minister Michael D'Arcy did the honours of pulling the lucky winners out of the hat, with first prize of €1,000 going to Kevin Hobbs and Catherine Breen.

Gorey Hockey Club has been in existence since 1980, but have never had a ground to call their own and currently have to play matches away in Enniscorthy.

In 2017, they secured land from Wexford County Council for the development of an Astro Turf pitch. The pitch will be suitable for many different types of sports including soccer, hockey, GAA, disability sports, community groups and much more.

This new development is being made in conjunction with St Joseph's Primary School, Creagh College and Gorey Educate Together.

The winners of the raffle were: 1, €1,000 - Kevin Hobbs and Catherine Breen; 2, Marlfield House Voucher - Caoimhe Byrne; 3, Talbot Hotel Voucher - Jason Hill; 4, Clara Lara Season Pass - Educate Together; 5, Bistro Voucher - Dale Adams.
