A national day of celebrating children's creativity was welcomed in Gorey Library on Saturday.

As part of Crinniú na nÓg, children took part in an art workshop facilitated by illustrator Ciara Winkleman. Ciara creates her own kids books, and developed her own special character 'Fabradoodle'.

Ciara's workshop was a creative interactive session celebrating the many famous illustrated dogs in children's literature. She showed how to draw the various dogs.

In conjunction with Crinniú na nÓg event, Gorey Library launched the Summer Stars Reading Adventure which will begin on Sunday, July 1.

The purpose of Summer Stars Reading Adventure is to keep children reading throughout the summer. Registration will take place on Saturday, June 30, and is open to all primary school children.

The kids can sign up for the adventure and get their own welcome activity pack that includes their Summer Stars Record Card. As they finish reading books, they will get rewards along the way. At the end of August, they will receive a certificate.
