Get On Yer Bike, the annual cycle for Jack and Jill Children's Foundation will take place at 10 a.m. starting and finishing at Naomh Eanna GAA Complex in Gorey on Saturday, June 8 in partnership with Gorey Cycling Club.

There will be a total of three routes to choose from, a family route of 15 km, a coastal cruise of 50 km and a coastal challenge of cycling 151 km, and there will be food and refreshments served during the morning.

'What I'd love to see is the family route being taken up by young children and their families,' said Derek Webb, Chairperson of Gorey Cycling Club.

'We really want it to become an annual highlight in the town's calendar,' he added.

Derek Webb is a cycling coach and is looking to offer the people of Gorey a couch to 50 km fitness training programme in the run up to the event.

'This is an opportunity to get more people fit and healthy, as well as contributing to a great childrens charity. We know that there are families in the town of Gorey that depend on that charity,' he added.

Currently there are 19 children being looked after by Jack and Jill in the Wexford area, and the foundation provides nursing care and support for children with severe neurological development issues, as well as offering some respite to the parents and families.

It costs €3.5 million per year to offer these services and all funds raised from the cycle will provide home nursing hours and respite care for sick children from the county and surrounding areas.

'I am delighted that the cycle is happening here in June and I look forward to seeing cyclists from all over the region taking part in what is promised to be a great day for all the family,' said Wexford Jack and Jill liaison nurse Joanne Doyle.

Online registration is now open, and it is €25 per person or €30 for the family cycle, which includes up to two adults and three children.

To register go to www.jackandjill.ie/cycle, or call the Jack and Jill office on 045 894538 or Derek Webb, Gorey Cycling Club on 087 0617615.
