GOREY Girl Guides are appealing for information on an old photo they found during a beach clean-up recently.

Sixteen guides from Gorey Girl Guides, along with their leaders Karen and Becky, took part in the coca cola Clean Coasts Week project, which saw the girls spending their weekly guide meeting cleaning the beach and surrounding areas in Courtown.

The clean coasts week aims to encourage the nation to protect and enjoy our coastline, while celebrating the thousands of volunteers across the island of Ireland who tirelessly work to keep beaches clean all year around.

The girls gathered a couple of bags of rubbish while chatting to locals, who praised their efforts but all involved were stopped in their tracks when they spotted a small picture.

'One young girl managed to unearth a lost treasure of an old photo, and they would love to reunite it with its owner. If you do recognise the photo please make contact. We estimate that it's from the late 60s or early 70s,' said leader Karen McCann.

Karen can be contacted at 086 1512861 or through the Gorey Girl Guides Facebook page.
