The firefighters of Gorey are fighting fit thanks to the staff at McCabe's Pharmacy.

Jackie Fortune of McCabe's Pharmacy said they provide free metabolic age testing at its chemist in Gorey town.

With all the publicity surrounding metabolic age testing during Operation Transformation's 'Weigh Your Age' Jackie said they decided to contact a number of local businesses to offer them the service.

'We've been into a few companies as part of a health awareness initiative. We've been into the Credit Union and last Tuesday we called to the fire station. We are also planning a visit to the garda station to offer the testing.

'The test measures your weight, your body fat, your water and your BMI in addition to a number of other things and then you get your metabolic age.

'Some people get great results while others aren't so good but the good thing about metabolic age is that you can change it by making some changes to your lifestyle. If someone gets less than satisfactory results we recommend that they go away for a month and work on their health and then come back and have it rechecked. It's a free service that we offer to everyone and it's a walk in service so you don't have to book it.

'It's proving really popular with our customers and it's a great way to keep people focused on their health.'
