Craanford's summer goes out with a bang with Ford Fest
With the final preparations for back to school underway, Craanford recently squeezed the final drops out of Summer 2017, and held what was billed as the last party of the summer.
Ford Fest began with a parade of entrants in the Rose of the Ford competition. They were led up the village by a piper, local clergy, and accompanied by young GAA players. A mini-soccer tournament followed, and victory went to Ray's Panel Beaters who beat Martin Doyle's team in the final.
The weekend, the brainchild of Raymond Byrne, also included nightly music in the marque, and a carnival and barbecue daily. The Rose of the Ford competition with MC Patrick Lennon attracted great interest, with 22 Roses and their young Rosebuds. The honours went to Katie Keogh representing Jack's Tavern.
The weather stayed fine all weekend, and a sincere thank you went to all in the community for turning out in such numbers to support the events. Funds raised go towards the cost of the village underpass.
