Carnew's Big Breakfast draws a crowd
There was huge turnout for the recent Big Breakfast in Carnew. Around 250 people gathered in the Back Alley on Sunday, August 25 to enjoy some food and fun in aid of the development and upkeep of the town's playground.
The event also featured face-painting, a bouncing castle and some craft stalls for everyone to enjoy. Local youth group, Chillax, was also on hand and helped out with the morning's activities.
'This is the second year of the event and the support from the public gets bigger with each year. We're so happy with what was a great day,' said Aidan Kinsella, chairperson of the Carnew Playground Committee.
Monies raised from the breakfast fundraiser will go towards the upkeep and development of the town's playground. A focus this year is on the second phase of the playground project which will see the development of a skate park for Carnew. A third phase will include the construction of an adult gym.
The organisers thanked local businesses for providing the food for the day and all their support. Thanks were also extended to Chillax and everyone who helped to make the breakfast a success.
It is hoped that the breakfast will be held again next year. In the meantime, the Carnew Playground Committee will hold its next fundraiser in the coming weeks. Details of a coffee morning to be held locally will shortly be announced. Later this year the much-anticipated Santa's Grotto will also return.
