Battle of the Boozers is a knockout for audience

Cathy Lee

It was a night of fun and friendly rivalry as a side from Coolgreany went head to head against a side from Gorey for the Battle of the Boozers event which saw participants represent both Breen's bar and Browne's taking part in white collar boxing.

The local publicans and their squads came together to do battle at the Amber Springs hotel, and over 1,000 people came out in support.

Organisers said that it was a great night of celebration which was well supported.

'It was very well organised with brilliant boxing. Well done to every boxer and person involved, a pat on the back to you all,' said a spokesperson for Breen's bar.

'Well done too to our very own Neil 'Bubbles' Breen who fought a great fight against Stephen 'Dummy' Donohoe with a draw at the end'.
