The future of Ballymore Church looks a lot brighter after a fun run in aid of its repairs raised more than €3,000.

A crowd of 70 adults, and just as many kids, gathered in the grounds of Ballymore Church on Sunday afternoon for the third annual 5K/9K run, or walk. Children took part on bikes and scooters, with many taking part alongside adults who were running the trail.

Committee member Sylvia Power said the crowd was the biggest they have ever witnessed and are thrilled with the money raised which will go towards the upkeep of the local church.

'This is our yearly fundraiser for the church and it is the important one for us,' said Sylvia.

Refreshments were served afterwards on the grounds of Ballymore Church.

A raffle was held leading up to the event and the winners were as follows: 1, Hazel Rynhart; 2, Georgina Deacon; 3, Alf Power; 4, Robyn Rynhart. Sylvia gave a heartfelt thank you to participants; sponsors; and to those who donated.
