Another year of great food and fun at the annual barbecue
Almost 400 people came out in support of North Wexford Hospice Nursing Trust at its annual barbecue, now in its twenty-eighth year, which was held in the Amber Springs Hotel, which saw nearly €18,000 was raised on the night through ticket sales and sponsorship.
'It was a super night with plenty of really good food, there was a great atmosphere with people up dancing until late. We're already looking forward to this time next year,' said Rosemary Melbourne of North Wexford Hospice Nursing Trust.
'At this stage our barbecue has proven as an event not to be missed. We have a great loyal support base, people see the need for the service and the appreciate the work that the hospice nurses do,' she said.
North Wexford Hospice Nursing Trust was set up in 1992 as a fundraising group to help maintain the home based palliative care service from County Wexford Hospice Homecare.
This care service funds eight full time clinical nursing specialists in the area, and they visit clients in hospital and in their own home.
For the barbecue, Slaney Meats and Cullens of Aske supplied steaks and vegetables, such as the popular baked potatoes, and all was prepared by Amber Springs Hotel head chef William Miller and his team.
Stafford Bakeries were on hand to present desserts for afters.
'The Amber Springs Hotel, the head chef and his team were a great support to us, they're like a well oiled machine so everything went off smoothly,' said Rosemary.
Entertainment was provided by local musicians, and guests also enjoyed the musical stylings of Theresa and the Stars.
