There was a real cause for celebration at the Amber Springs Hotel last week as management unveiled its latest expansion, with the family market very much to the fore

Hotel owners, brothers Tommy and Paddy Redmond, officially cut the tape on a €6m investment which saw 48 new family suites added to the hotel's accommodation package.

The rooms, tailored towards families, are the first of its kind in Ireland.

It brings the total number of bedrooms at the Gorey hotel to 127.

And the Redmond brothers were pleased to announce further expansion for their hotel, as construction is currently under way for a garden view lounge, an expanded kids and wobbler playroom and an extension to the existing family restaurant.

Officially opened last week by Minister of State Michael D'Arcy alongside the Redmond brothers, he said the suites show a significant and further investment in the tourism sector in North Wexford.

'It brings further employment which is extremely positive,' added Minister D'Arcy. 'It is great to see also local construction companies get the work.'

Minister D'Arcy said the Amber Springs, who were recently awarded for Ireland's top family destination, is helping to put Gorey on the destination map.

Speaking about the suites, General Manager Eibhear Coyle said 'the new wing of family suites will really cement our position in the family hotel/resort sector as one of the leading hotels in Ireland for our international and domestic guests'.

The suites have an open plan space with an internal kids den that has a private area with four bunk beds, where the children can sleep and play while the adults relax in comfort. Each suite has WiFi, a smart television, mini-fridge and a spacious family bathroom with a large walk in shower.

Also within the new wing are the Corner Suites which are open plan rooms, with no kids den, within one enormous space.

The Amber Springs puts a huge emphasis on the family market, with strong investment in facilities such as the outdoor park with go-karting, mini-golf, pet farm and the playground.

In the last two years, the Amber Springs has opened two new restaurants - Italian Garden Pizzeria and Farm Steakhouse, which is an adult only outlet. The Amber Springs Hotel has won numerous awards including Best Family Destination Hotel and Best Hotel Restaurant.
