Two students from Coláiste Bhríde Carnew are preparing for an experience of a lifetime.

Alanna Davidson and Roisin Byrne, along with their teacher Sinead Finlay, are going to Malawi with the charity Gorta Self Help Africa to visit some of the projects the school has supported financially for several years.

The girls and Ms Finlay have been busy since the start of the year raising funds towards the cost of their trip, and also for some of the items they will take with them when they visit schools in Malawi.

The original plan was to visit Ethiopia, but following a recent ban on overseas visitors to that country, the trip was changed to Malawi next February.

Coláiste Bhríde has raised funds for the charity since 2002. The girls were selected from interviews with representatives of the charity.

So far, Alanna and Roisin have held bake sales and a back to school disco, and will now hold a table quiz on Friday, November 24, in the Little Moon, Coolboy, at 8.30 p.m. All support would be appreciated.
