€85,000 worth of drugs seized in major operation
A major operation involving local gardaí last Wednesday resulted in 15 arrests, 15 homes raided and €85,000 worth of drugs seized.
While some of the arrests related to outstanding bench warrants, several were in relation to substantial drug seizures. A total of six arrests were made in the Gorey district - two for drugs and four bench warrants.
The arrests were made in raids across the Gorey and Enniscorthy Garda District.
The Operation Thor district day of action was led by Superintendent Gerry McGrath and Inspector Pat Cody. The operation involved the district detective and traffic units, local personnel and the garda dog unit.
The searches on homes in Gorey, Riverchapel, Courtown, Enniscorthy, Bunclody, Clonroche and Davidstown began early on Wednesday morning and continued throughout the day. In all, 15 homes were searched under warrant - 14 under the misuse of drugs act and one under theft and fraud offence act.
Drugs seized during the searches included cannabis, cannabis plants, cocaine, MDMA and xanax. Files are currently being prepared for the Director for Public Prosecutions.
