Pedal power recently came to the aid of the Ballygarrett NS pitch fund as a cheque for €1,800, the proceeds of the Macamore Wheelers' sponsored cycle, were presented to the school.

The club organised the 35km cycle back in May, and up to 70 cyclists took part in the spin from Ballygarrett to Courtown, on to Gorey, and back via Ballycanew. They were rewarded for their efforts with refreshments served by the Ballygarrett NS Parents' Association at the school.

The Macamore Wheelers have held the annual cycle since 2010 for various charities and they were delighted to see cyclists from clubs across the south east, as well as locals taking to the roads on the day.

Thanks were sent to all who took part, those who sponsored them, anyone who donated, and all who helped, including the marshals and stewards, and the parents.

The Wheelers train at weekends, and on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in the summer. New members welcome.
