Summer Seisiúns off to a great start
There was a hive of activity in the Loch Garman Arms Hotel for the ongoing annual summer seisiúns of traditional music which are hosted by local Comhaltas branch CCÉ Gorey/Ballygarrett every Monday evening from 8 p.m.
'The event which is now in its forth year has been a huge success, and we are delighted to have the seisiún run every Monday evening in the Loch Garman Arms Hotel function room during July and August,' said branch secretary Gráinne Farrell.
During the first half of the evening the audience is entertained by the members of the branch with traditional music, song, dance and recitation, and after the interval the audience are welcome to participate with their own tune, song, dance or poem.
'A fantastic selection of entertainment can always be found during the second half of the evening with tourists, neighbouring comhaltas branch visitors, exchange students and performances by some very talented well known locals. Really each week brings something different,' said Gráinne.
Gráinne wished to thank Michael Gleeson of the Loch Garman Arms Hotel, as well as the tutors who give up their time so freely to lead the Seisiún.
'Without all of their dedication and support, the event would not be such a great success,' she said.
CCÉ Gorey/Ballygarrett are looking forward to a fun filled summer of music and weekly entry is €5 for adults and children are free with refreshments available in the bar.
