A local man won the ultimate prize of being given the chance to dash quickly around the supermarket to grab whatever he wanted in the space of two minutes.

Mick Farrell was picked out of a raffle in aid of the Kilmuckridge Community Playground held in Hammels Centra in Kilmuckridge.

The trolley dash fundraiser raised a total of €2,000 that will go towards the community playground that the committee are trying to get in the village.

The Kilmuckridge Community Playground committee thanked main sponsor Shay Hammel of Hammels Centra for all his help and to those who entered the raffle to help raise much needed funds for the playground.

Isabelle O'Sullivan, one of the committee members, said they had a busy December fundraising to provide the village with a playground facility for the children of the area.

The committee was formed by several local members of the community: Jason Chawke, Shay Hammel, John O'Sullivan, Peter Hammel, Mary Farrell, Orla Doran, Sean Kehoe, Betty Walsh, Fred Hammel, Vanessa Farrell, Lorraine O'Connor and John Herne.

They expressed thanks to the volunteers and businesses who have contributed so far.
