THE next meeting of the North Wexford Historical Society will be held in Gorey Library at 8 p.m. on Friday, October 25. The guest speaker will be Dan Walsh who will give a lecture on 'The Big Houses of North Wexford'. Admission for non-members is €5, and members are free.

THE October winning numbers for the NWSPCA's monthly fundraising lotto draw were: 4, 5, 6, and 17.

There was no winner of the €4,300 jackpot and three tickets were pulled out in the lucky dip draw. These winners were: John Maher; Betty Redmond; and Aine Stafford.

Next month's lotto jackpot increases to €4,350 and the draw will be held on Monday, November 4, in the Loch gCarman Arms, Gorey. People can enter the draw up to six months in advance. GOREY Chamber will host its annual Budget Breakfast Briefing in The Ashdown Park Hotel on Wednesday, October 16, at 7.45 a.m.

The first Monster Dream Run takes place on Bank Holiday Sunday, October 27. The family fun event is being run in aid of Share a Dream and is for runners and walkers.

A 5km run for adults takes place from The Amber Spring Hotel at 1 p.m., while a 1.5km fun run or walk for children, plus all the entertainment, takes place around the grounds of the hotel, followed by a concert, disco, Zumba dancing, and best costume competition.

COOLFANCY Parents' Association host a fundraising fashion show titled 'Under the October Twilight' at The Amber Springs Hotel, Gorey, on Thursday, October 24, at 8 p.m.

A evening of glamour will see the presentation of outfits from Contra, Gorey; Next, Arklow; Tresor, Carnew; Ruby Rouge, Gorey; Jack Dunnes, Gorey; Dunnes Stores, Arklow; and Marie McEleron Bridal Design, Arklow.

A NEW play by Carnew based writer Kieran Tyrrell will be staged at The Courthouse Arts Centre, Tinahely, this week.

CASTLETOWN Liam Mellows footballers will go head to head with Gorey Rugby Club players on Sunday, October 27, in a GAA football/rugby mash up.

The first half of the game will be GAA, and the second half will be rugby. It promises to be a fun match with all proceeds going to Share a Dream.

It kicks off under floodlights at 7.30 p.m. at Gorey Rugby Club on Bank Holiday Sunday, October 27, and will be accompanied by a barbeque and other fun.


A TABLE quiz to raise funds for the Justice for Dave campaign will be held in The Loch gCarman Arms, Gorey, on Thursday, October 17, at 8.30 p.m. A table of four is €20.

The quiz is being organised to support the Hussain family from Garden City in their bid to have the killers of their father Dave prosecuted for his murder in Kashmir this summer.


ENTRIES are now being accepted for a new photography competition, 'Focus', at The Gaslamp Gallery. All entries will be displayed from November 18 to 23. LOCAL artists are invited to submit entries for this year's Credit Union National Art Competition. This year's theme is 'Gotta Lotta Colour', and entries can be submitted to Gorey Credit Union. Categories range from Under 7 to 18, and adults. There is also a special category for those with physical or intellectual disabilities.
