Great day for Markie Doyle vintage run in Craanford
The thirteenth annual Markie Doyle Memorial Vintage Road Run was a great success last Sunday in Craanford, with more than 100 participants.
'The fine day made it,' said Danny Whelan, chairperson of Craanford Heritage Group which organises the event every year.
Some 100 vintage tractors, 65 cars and a few trucks gathered at the Craanford community centre before setting off around the roads of North Wexford.
Danny said the cars travelled to Hollyfort, Tinahely, Shillelagh, Carnew before returning to Craanford. The tractors went on a different route to Gorey, Ballycanew, Camolin and back to the community centre.
The Ladies Committee had soup and sandwiches for the participants when they returned back from there two hour travel.
Many of those who took part collected sponsorship in the weeks leading up to the event and Danny said some of the committee members also collected money during December and January. The amount raised will be announced in a few weeks.
