JOYCE O'Keeffe, who played music for charity on Gorey's Main Street on various Thursdays during the summer, has thanked all those who donated. She also thanked Gwen, Danny, and Bridie for helping her, and Funge's for supplying the electricity.
The totals raised were: €246.16 for an Ethiopian charity nominated by Joe Funge; €138.36 for the St. Vincent de Paul; €208.49 for Gorey Old Folks Club; €286.30 for Crumlin Children's Hospital; and €200.31 for the Irish Kidney Association; bringing the total raised to €1,079.62.

GOREY LITTLE Theatre Group will hold Panto auditions for 'Robin Hood' in the Theatre on Sunday, September 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for 8 year olds and over only. Adult auditions will be held on Tuesday, September 24, at 7.30 p.m. The show will run in Gorey from January 10 to 19 next year, and the Director is Alan Corcoran. Musical Director is Fintan Cleary, Wexford.
GOREY Youth Needs' Primary After School Groups are now up and running.
Third and fourth class pupils meet on Mondays; fifth class pupils meet on Tuesdays; and sixth class pupils meet on Wednesdays.
All three groups run from 2.35 p.m. to 3.40 p.m. and entry is free of charge. Members can take part in a wide variety of activities such as cookery or baking, arts and crafts, sports, healthy living, team building exercises etc.
The main focus is to help boost self-esteem through personal development and participation. Places are limited so please pop into the Gorey Youth Needs Centre on the Mary Ward Lane in Gorey, on the appropriate day to register.

AUTHOR of 'Parnell, A Novel', Brian Cregan SC will discuss his new book at Gorey Library on Thursday, September 12, at 7.30 p.m.
The book charts the historical and personal events in the life of Charles Stewart Parnell as told by his fictional secretary James Harrison. The story starts with Parnell's induction into the House of Commons by Messrs. Butt and Bigger and follows the political and personal life and leadership of Parnell, his rise and very public downfall and death.

THE 51 Bridge Club will reopen on Wednesday, September 11, in Gorey Rugby Club, at 7.20 p.m. Play starts at 7.30 p.m. sharp. The three Wednesdays in September will be Open Nights.
